Shock resignation in Memleket Party: 'I have returned to my father's hearth!'

Mehmet Bahadır Gülsever, the son of Memleket Party Istanbul Provincial Chair Ertuğrul Gülsever, has announced that he is resigning from the Memleket Party and will give his full support to IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

Bahadır Gülsever's father, Ertuğrul Gülsever, is a figure who has spent more than half a century of his life in the Republican People's Party (CHP) and has held numerous positions within the CHP.

WHY THE SWITCH TO CHP?

Behind Mehmet Bahadır Gülsever's transition from the Memleket Party to the CHP lies the Memleket Party's attempt to field a candidate for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor.

The risk that İmamoğlu's votes could be split in this way also carries the risk of losing the IMM elections.
