Sırrı Süreyya Önder's condition is critical: Doctors to make a statement on May 5

The health condition of Sırrı Süreyya Önder, Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), DEM Party Istanbul MP, and member of the Imrali Delegation, remains serious after he was hospitalized and underwent surgery on the night of Tuesday, April 15, following a heart condition.

Önder has been receiving treatment at the Istanbul Florence Nightingale Hospital for 15 days.

DOCTORS TO MAKE A STATEMENT ON MAY 5

Önder was moved to intensive care following a surgery that lasted approximately 12 hours. His doctors are scheduled to make a statement regarding the latest status of Önder, who continues to be treated in intensive care on the 15th day of his hospitalization, on Monday, May 5.

IT WAS STATED THAT "HIS NEUROLOGICAL CONDITION HAS BEGUN TO DETERIORATE"

In a statement made on April 28, doctors noted that Önder's life-threatening condition continues to increase, stating, "We have reached another breaking point. Our patient's reflexes have diminished, and cerebral edema persists." The doctors also added, "There are currently no signs of brain death."

The hospital's Chief Physician, Prof. Dr. Çaylan Çiftçi, noted the following in his statement:

"Although our patient maintains hemodynamic stability in the intensive care unit under ECMO (heart support device) and intensive inotropic support treatment, his neurological condition has begun to deteriorate. For this reason, we have reached another breaking point. Our patient's neurological reflexes related to the brain have diminished, and cerebral edema persists. These findings indicate that his life-threatening condition is increasingly worsening. However, we will patiently continue all our treatments and wait patiently."
