Statement from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on Aziz İhsan Aktaş: Did he flee abroad?

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office issued a written statement regarding the claim brought up by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel during his group meeting that "Aziz İhsan Aktaş has fled abroad."

According to information reported by T24, the Prosecutor's Office stated in its announcement to journalists, "The claim in question is not true."

ÖZEL HAD BROUGHT THIS CLAIM TO THE AGENDA IN THE PARLIAMENTARY GROUP

CHP Chairman Özel, in his speech at his party's group meeting in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, had used the following expressions regarding Aziz İhsan Aktaş, who faces a requested sentence of 704 years in prison:

"He is facing 704 years in prison, yet he is walking free. He is wandering around. Whether he is wandering or not is unknown. It is also being said these days that he has fled. If anyone sees or knows, let it be said. But the man being tried for 704 years is outside; our mayors, who are being tried for 4 years based on his slander, are in prison."
