Statement from Hakan Fidan on PKK/YPG

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi to discuss regional security issues. During the joint press conference held after the meeting, Fidan made striking statements regarding the PKK and YPG.

PKK IS ON THE VERGE OF COLLAPSE

"The PKK is trying to survive through violence by exploiting the noble sentiments of our Kurdish brothers. However, this structure is now on the verge of collapse. A major cleanup has been carried out in Turkey. Conditions in Syria have changed; the end of the presence of the PKK and YPG is a matter of time," said Fidan, emphasizing the determination in the fight against terrorism.

Drawing attention to the ISIS threat in the region, Fidan stated, "ISIS is a poison for Muslim societies. They are corrupting societies through violence and chaos. We will not allow their rise in the region." Touching upon the importance of international cooperation in the fight against terrorism, Fidan said, "It is very important for us that ISIS does not rise again in our region."
