Statement from Hamas: Netanyahu is not interested in reaching a deal
Senior Hamas official Husam Badran stated that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is trying to undermine ceasefire negotiations, saying, "He is not interested in reaching a deal."
Hostage exchange and ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas will continue this week in Cairo, the capital of Egypt.
Senior Hamas official Husam Badran accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of making statements intended to undermine the possibility of a ceasefire.
Badran warned that Netanyahu's statements insisting on sending military forces to Rafah are aimed at "eliminating the possibility of reaching an agreement."
Emphasizing that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has been an obstacle in previous negotiations as well, Badran said, "He is not interested in reaching a deal. That is why he is making statements to block current efforts."
On the other hand, Badran added in his statement that Hamas's goal is a permanent ceasefire and the "full and comprehensive withdrawal of occupation forces from the Gaza Strip."
