Statement from Özgür Özel on Cemil Tugay! 'I evaluated it for 22 hours straight'

The Republican People's Party (CHP) Party Assembly (PM) met yesterday (January 29) to determine its İzmir candidates.

In the meeting where the names of incumbent mayor Tunç Soyer, Buğra Gökçe, and Karşıyaka Mayor Cemil Tugay were discussed, it was decided to nominate Tugay.

Making evaluations regarding his party's İzmir candidates, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel said that he personally worked on the entire list.

Speaking to İsmail Küçükkaya from Halk TV, Özel stated, "The average age of our mayoral candidates in İzmir and its districts was 62; it has dropped to 46. I think this is important. We have female candidates in 9 districts, and I care about this very much."

KARŞIYAKA CANDIDATE STATEMENT

Speaking about Karşıyaka Mayoral candidate Behice Yıldız İşçimenler Ünsal, Özel said, "For the first time in a very long time, we have put forward a candidate from Karşıyaka for Karşıyaka. The grandfather of our Karşıyaka candidate is one of the names who founded the Karşıyaka Sports Club."
