Striking claim from Fatih Erbakan regarding the AKP's election plan: Notable remarks on Kılıçdaroğlu
Yeniden Refah Party leader Fatih Erbakan has made statements that will fuel the 'controlled election' debate ahead of the upcoming elections. Erbakan claimed that the ruling party is working on a plan that would see Kılıçdaroğlu run as a candidate again, while Mansur Yavaş and Ekrem İmamoğlu are sidelined.
As debates regarding the election process continue unabated, the appellate court decision expected in May concerning the 'absolute nullity' (mutlak butlan) case and potential political formulas remain on the agenda. Yeniden Refah Party Chairman Fatih Erbakan made significant assessments regarding this process.
Speaking to Şirin Payzin from T24, Fatih Erbakan suggested that the ruling party could organize a controlled and two-stage election in the coming years. Stating that the plan in question could be shaped by bringing the 'nullity' case to the agenda within the main opposition, Erbakan noted that elections in 2027-2028 could be prepared in this direction.
Erbakan, who believes that the judicial processes currently taking place within the Republican People's Party (CHP) are political, drew attention to the ruling party's current mindset, stating: "There is a thought that 'let there be a nullity in the CHP, let Kılıçdaroğlu emerge as our opponent again, let an election be held where İmamoğlu and Yavaş cannot be candidates, and let us win through a controlled election.'"
These remarks, which have recently resonated with the public, have also found wide repercussions in the political arena. Erbakan also assessed that if their own party's vote shares rise, similar pressures could be applied to them, saying, "The other day, a citizen said, 'Be careful, they might arrest you too.' If we reach votes like 40-50-60% in the polls, our fate could be the same."
