Journalist Fatih Altaylı made striking remarks regarding Selahattin Demirtaş's imprisonment in his commentary titled “You did it all!” published on his YouTube channel today.
ÖCALAN COMMENTARY
Altaylı said, "I am of the opinion that those who wanted Selahattin Demirtaş to be in prison were the founders of the PKK, with the support of Öcalan."
SELAHATTİN DEMİRTAŞ CLAIM
In the video where he claimed that the founding cadres of the PKK hated Demirtaş, Altaylı said the following:
“I am of the opinion that Selahattin Demirtaş being in prison is at the request of the PKK, Kandil, and Imralı—that is, the founding cadres of the PKK, the Murat Karayılan types and others—and with the support of Abdullah Öcalan, who is imprisoned in Imralı. Because all of them, in a sense, hated Selahattin Demirtaş. It was very clear, it was their perspective on him. ‘Who is Selahattin? Did he go to the mountains? We dedicated our lives to this cause. We spent our lives in the mountains. We did this and that, we spent time in prisons. Who is Selahattin? He appeared yesterday, what is going on?’ Selahattin Demirtaş's popularity bothered the PKK. It bothered the old-guard cadres of the PKK. That is why I think the old guard of the PKK is not at all bothered by him being inside; in fact, they are pleased.”
