Strip search debate between Özlem Zengin and Gergerlioğlu: Compensation lawsuit filed

The tension surrounding strip search practices in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) has taken a legal turn between AKP Group Deputy Chair Özlem Zengin and DEM Party Kocaeli MP Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu. Gergerlioğlu had harshly criticized the strip search practices in the TBMM, stating that they were contrary to human rights. Zengin had responded to Gergerlioğlu following these criticisms by calling him a "pervert."

According to a report by Mustafa Balcı from Sözcü, while Gergerlioğlu had filed a compensation lawsuit in response to Zengin's insult, Zengin has now filed a countersuit against Gergerlioğlu for similar reasons, also seeking compensation.

Zengin had previously denied that strip search practices were conducted in prisons and detention centers, but later acknowledged that these practices were indeed taking place.

''I WILL CONTINUE TO SPEAK OUT''

Following Zengin's filing of the lawsuit, Gergerlioğlu made a statement on his social media account, emphasizing that the reality of strip searches could never be hidden. Gergerlioğlu stated his determination by saying, "I will continue to speak out, until rights and the truth shine as bright as the sun!"
