Support for İmamoğlu among AKP voters is declining

Prof. Dr. Behçet Yalın Özkara, known for his research on social media, has announced the results of a large-scale survey regarding the process of Ekrem İmamoğlu's potential arrest. The survey, conducted with 10,144 participants, shows a significant decline in support among AKP voters for the arrest of İmamoğlu.

Özkara stated that the proportion of those among AKP voters who say "It is right for İmamoğlu to be arrested" has experienced a serious decline. In contrast, he noted that an increase has been observed in the proportion of those who say "It is absolutely wrong for İmamoğlu to be arrested."

THE SHIFT AMONG AKP VOTERS

Özkara emphasized that while the attitude of CHP voters toward the arrest decision has remained stable, a significant change has occurred among AKP voters. According to the survey results, while the proportion of those saying "The arrest decision is absolutely correct" was 45.5 percent in one survey, this rate has fallen to the 38.5-39 percent level in subsequent surveys.

Özkara stated that the total support from AKP voters for the arrest of İmamoğlu has dropped from 68.7 percent to 56.5 percent, assessing the situation by saying, "The AK Party is having difficulty convincing its own voters regarding İmamoğlu."
