Support from Özgür Özel for Barış Yarkadaş, who announced he is leaving his profession

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made a statement on his social media account following the remarks made by Barış Yarkadaş on TV100, in which he stated that he was quitting journalism.

Özel stated, "I do not find it right for my success to cost a journalist their professional life."

"I WILL CALL BARIŞ YARKADAŞ TOMORROW"

In his post, Özgür Özel said, "I do not find it right for my success to cost a journalist their professional life. Barış Yarkadaş is a colleague with whom I served in parliament in the previous term. Even if he has stood against me in the past and made comments that exceeded the boundaries of journalism, I have given my word to our delegates and the public that I will not hold any grudges from the past. My word is my bond. I think Barış Yarkadaş should reconsider his decision, and I will call him tomorrow regarding this matter."

HE HAD SAID 'I WILL QUIT THE PROFESSION IF HE IS ELECTED'

Following Barış Yarkadaş's words, "If Özgür Özel is elected Chairman, I will quit the profession," Özgür Özel's election as Chairman turned all eyes toward Yarkadaş.

Yarkadaş, in a live broadcast on TV100, had stated, "I am keeping the promise I made to the public. As of 23:49, as I promised and in accordance with my character, I am quitting active journalism. I informed the Editor-in-Chief of TV100 of this decision today."
