Surprise departure in Aydın: Iller Bank General Manager resigns

Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu resigned from the CHP, where she had been active for years, on the 24th anniversary of the AKP's founding, and joined the AKP, a party she had previously heavily criticized. With Çerçioğlu's move to the AKP, financial support that had been withheld from CHP-run municipalities was provided to the Aydın Metropolitan Municipality by Iller Bank.

860 MILLION TL PAYMENT MADE

Within the scope of the agreement made between Iller Bank General Manager Recep Türk and Çerçioğlu, a payment of 860 million TL was made to the municipality. This support was planned to make a major contribution to municipal activities in Aydın.

According to a report by Çiğdem Toker from T24, Recep Türk, who had been serving as general manager at Iller Bank for 2 years, has left his post and has been replaced by Eyyüp Karahan, the General Manager of Environmental Impact Assessment, Permit and Inspection at the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. The appointment, which has not yet been published in the Official Gazette, has brought the change of duty to the agenda.

Türk denied allegations that he was dismissed, stating that the handover took place at his own request, that he was moving to Istanbul because his children were starting school, and that he wanted to leave the post.

FAREWELL MESSAGE TO COLLEAGUES

In a farewell message sent to his colleagues, Recep Türk stated the following: "Two years ago, I experienced great pride in being appointed as the General Manager of ILBANK with the appreciation and approval of our President. With the awareness of the responsibility we took over after the 'Disaster of the Century,' one of the greatest natural disasters our country has ever seen, we made a great effort together with you, primarily for the reconstruction and development of the infrastructure of our cities damaged by the disaster.

At ILBANK, one of the most deep-rooted institutions of our Republic, we prepared projects for the realization of services such as drinking water, sewage lines, and treatment plants, which are the responsibility of our local governments. With domestic and foreign financing, we ensured our cities' access to everything from renewable energy to public gardens and environmentally friendly projects.

This duty was a relay race, and we are handing over the baton we received to a very valuable name. I ask my colleagues to grant me their blessings, and I declare that I grant all my rights to you. I would like to express my gratitude to our Ministers, our Board members, and our President with whom I worked during my tenure. May God be with you."
