Swift response to claims of an Istanbul protocol between CHP and DEM Party: 'A total lie'

A document was published on social media claiming that a protocol had been made between the CHP and the DEM Party regarding Istanbul.

The text, which is alleged to have been signed on February 19, 2024, contains 22 articles. According to the articles, it was claimed that "the DEM Party would field a candidate in Istanbul" and that "DEM Party Istanbul candidates Meral Danış Beştaş and Murat Çepni would be passive in the election campaign."

In the document in question, the signatures of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, DEM Party Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidates Meral Danış Beştaş and Murat Çepni, CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik, and DEM Party Istanbul Co-Chairs Murat Kalmaz and Gonca Yangöz were forged.

SHARP REACTION FROM MERAL DANIŞ BEŞTAŞ

Meral Danış Beştaş denied the document in question by making a statement on her X (Twitter) account. Danış Beştaş stated, "The piece of paper below, which has been put into circulation, is a total lie. They couldn't even imitate the signatures. Those who committed this fraud must be exposed as soon as possible... We will not let these fraudsters and liars get away with this."

ÖZGÜR ÇELİK: THEY COULDN'T EVEN MANAGE THE SIGNATURES

CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik said regarding the allegations, "It is absolutely a lie; the signatures were forged. They couldn't even manage the signatures."

İMAMOĞLU'S ADVISOR ALSO DENIED IT

Murat Ongun, an advisor to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, also stated in a statement to journalist Barış Yarkadaş that the text was a lie.

CHP ISTANBUL PROVINCIAL CHAIR ÖZGÜR ÇELİK ALSO REACTED

Çelik evaluated the document shared on social media claiming that an Istanbul protocol was signed between the DEM Party and the CHP. Çelik said the following:

When the truth of the streets hits them in the face, they have started their fraud again.

The politics that feeds on conspiracies, montages, lies, fake brochures, and slander in every election has taken the stage once again.

They are trying to influence the will of Istanbul with a fake piece of paper they produced with their half-wits.

My signature is much more beautiful than the fake signature on this piece of paper...

We will defeat the government you are trying to keep alive with lies by using the reality of the people.

We will not be fooled.

We will not take a step back.

Istanbul will break this game too!
