Tensions in the Turkish Parliament continue today! Bottles were thrown
Tensions continued in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) following the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. Verbal altercations between CHP and AKP deputies caused friction during both yesterday's and today's parliamentary sessions.
Following the detention of IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and 105 others yesterday as part of two investigations conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office centered on the IMM, deputies approached the podium during a speech by CHP Deputy Ali Mahir Başarır in the TBMM General Assembly yesterday, chanting "We will win by uniting," leading the session chair, DEM Party's Sırrı Süreyya Önder, to adjourn the assembly.

Following yesterday's tension, the parliamentary session was the scene of further friction today. CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır and AKP Kayseri Deputy Bayar Özsoy sparred with the words "What are you talking about?" Tensions rose as the two walked toward each other. During the altercation, Ali Mahir Başarır threw a cologne bottle. Sırrı Süreyya Önder suspended the session.
