Tensions rise in Parliament, insults fly: CHP's Ağbaba reacts sharply to heckling from AKP members

International agreements were discussed at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Assembly.

Taking the floor at the general assembly, Republican People's Party (CHP) Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba stated that while 103 thousand houses should have been built in the earthquake zone after the election, the government had only built 7 thousand.

AKP deputies heckled Ağbaba while he was speaking at the podium, shouting "You are lying."

Following the heckling from the AKP benches, CHP's Ağbaba raised his voice. Mutual insults between the AKP deputies and CHP's Ağbaba, such as "don't talk, man," "I'm saying 'man' to you, man," "jerk," "your mouth is filthy," "shameless guy," "low-class," and "drunk," were recorded in the official minutes.

"PEOPLE CANNOT LIVE IN THEIR HOMES"

According to the report in Sözcü; while speaking during the discussion of international agreements in Parliament, CHP's Ağbaba expressed the shortage of earthquake housing as follows:

"The house is built but there is no infrastructure, no children's park, no mosque, no cultural center, no health center, nothing, nothing, nothing. Four walls have been delivered, but unfortunately, people still cannot live in those houses. If you are watching those lottery draws on television, know that all of it is a lie; no one is able to live in their home."

AKP Group Deputy Chairman Leyla Şahin Usta objected to Ağbaba, saying "You cannot say it's a lie," after which a heated exchange lasting several minutes took place between the AKP deputies and CHP's Ağbaba.

"ILL-MANNERED, I'M SAYING 'MAN' TO YOU, MAN, JERK..."

Here is how those insult-filled words entered the minutes:

Ejder Açıkkapı (AKP): You are speaking lies, lies!

Ağbaba: If it's a lie, come to Malatya, go out to the street! Come if you have any shame.

Açıkkapı: You are shameless, shameless.

Ağbaba: Do you know who Veli Ağbaba is? I am a fellow townsman of İsmet İnönü, a fellow townsman of Turgut Özal, a fellow townsman of Hamido; would I be afraid of you?

Açıkkapı: Would I be afraid of you? Ağbaba, who do you think you are!

İbrahim Yurdunuseven (AKP): Tell us about the terrorist!

Ağbaba: You are the biggest terrorist.

Adem Yıldırım (AKP): Shameless guy! Ill-mannered man, devoid of honor.

Ağbaba: What will you do? If you could, you would label me a terrorist.

Yıldırım: You are the king of the shameless. Don't talk, man! Jerk! You are the king of the shameless, man!

Ağbaba: You are that, man, you are!

Nurettin Alan (AKP): Your mouth is filthy.

Yıldırım: Ill-mannered, I'm saying 'man' to you, man!

Ağbaba: You cannot say that to me.

Yıldırım: You are as low-class as they come.

Ağbaba: You are the low-class one. Don't make me open my mouth, be smart.

Alan: You be smart, what happens if you get involved, you drunk!

Ağbaba: Be smart, don't insult.

(Mutual heckling and noise between AKP and CHP)

Speaker: I am recessing the session for ten minutes...
