Terrorist leader Öcalan's 'return home' call on the agenda: Allegations of preparations for a new party
The 'return home' call made by PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan to Kurdish politicians in Europe has created significant movement. According to Ruşen Çakır, Öcalan's goal is not just a return, but also to lay the groundwork for a new political structure.
The 'return home' call made by PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan to Kurdish politicians in Europe has recently drawn significant attention. Journalist Ruşen Çakır, in his article published on Medyascope, stated that this call by Öcalan is not merely a request for return, but also aims to lay the foundations for a 'new political structure.' Çakır drew attention to the following words of the terrorist leader in a message sent to the 33rd International Kurdish Culture Festival held in Dortmund, Germany, on September 13, 2024:
"You who live in Europe went there due to necessities and pressures. However, your return to the country with the advancement of the process we have initiated will open the door to a new beginning."
Çakır noted that the return process is rapidly taking shape, assessing that "some exiled politicians have begun packing their bags."
LIST OF EXILED POLITICIANS IN EUROPE
According to Çakır, many politicians who previously served in the HDP and its predecessor parties still live in Europe. These names include well-known figures such as Garo Paylan, Hişyar Özsoy, Leyla İmret, Faysal Sarıyıldız, Osman Baydemir, Zübeyir Aydar, and Remzi Kartal. Çakır emphasized that while it is not expected that all of these individuals will heed the call, a significant portion of them accept it "as if it were an instruction."
KURDISH POLITICS TO EVOLVE INTO A 'SINGLE-CENTERED' STRUCTURE
In the analysis regarding the background of the terrorist leader Öcalan's call, it is predicted that the structure of the Kurdish movement will change as the PKK lays down its arms and dissolves itself. In his article, Çakır stated, "The Kurdish movement will evolve from multi-centered to single-centered. The West will continue to have influence in the new era, but the weight will need to be shifted to Turkey." In this context, the aim is to make Kurdish politics Turkey-centered once again.
DEMİRTAŞ'S INFLUENCE ON THE PARTY WILL BE LIMITED
Ruşen Çakır stated in his article that another goal of Öcalan's call is to limit Selahattin Demirtaş's influence over the party. Çakır commented, "Öcalan wants to establish new power balances in this process." At this point, any potential reaction Demirtaş might show against the return of political cadres from Europe could trigger a significant change within Kurdish politics.
A NEW PARTY WILL BE FOUNDED: 'RETURN HOME LAW' ALLEGATION
According to Çakır, a new political party is planned to be founded in the first months of 2026 following Öcalan's call. It is stated that this party will be a continuation of the current DEM Party, but its name, charter, and management structure could change completely. It is noted that Öcalan has brought up names such as the "Democratic Republic Party" or "Radical Republic Party" for the new party. Furthermore, it is anticipated that a "Return Home Law" will be enacted to ensure the return of politicians abroad to Turkey, after which the new political structure will be announced to the public.
