The 'firsts' and 'mosts' of the March 31 Local Elections

Turkey has left the March 31 Local Elections behind.

According to unofficial results, the Republican People's Party (CHP) became the leading party nationwide with 37.77 percent of the vote. The CHP emerged victorious from the elections for the first time in 47 years.

YOUNGEST MAYOR IS 22 YEARS OLD

According to unofficial results, the "youngest mayor" of the election is 22-year-old Zeynep Çelik, who won the Kalkım town municipality in Yenice, Çanakkale, as an independent candidate.

OLDEST MAYOR IS AHMET TÜRK

82-year-old Ahmet Türk of the DEM Party, who won the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality, was recorded as the "oldest" name to cross the finish line.

LONGEST-SERVING FEMALE MAYORS

Özlem Çerçioğlu, who was elected mayor for the 4th time in Aydın, and Fatma Şahin, who was elected for the 3rd time in Gaziantep, became the "longest-serving" female mayors.

FIRST FEMALE MAYORS

Ayşe Ünlüce in Eskişehir, Burcu Köksal in Afyonkarahisar, Candan Yüceer in Tekirdağ, Filiz Gencan Akın in Edirne, Sofya Alağaş in Siirt, Hazal Aras in Ağrı, Melek Mızrak Subaşı in Bilecik, Ayşe Serra Bucak Küçük in Diyarbakır, and Gülüstan Sönük in Batman stood out as the women elected as mayors.

WHO RECEIVED THE HIGHEST VOTE AMONG PROVINCES?

Among all provinces, the "highest vote" was received by Gülüstan Sönük, who was elected Mayor of Batman with 64.52 percent.

HIGHEST VOTE RATE AMONG DISTRICTS IS 86.08 PERCENT

When considering provinces and districts across Turkey, the "highest vote rate" was reached in the Lice district of Diyarbakır. Dilek Diyar Özer achieved the "highest vote" rate nationwide with 86.08 percent.

ELECTED WITH 21 PERCENT

The name elected with the "lowest vote" rate of March 31 was Ayvaz Hazir, who received 21.33 percent of the vote in Bahçesaray, Van.

MOST CANDIDATES AND LONGEST BALLOT IN ISTANBUL

While Istanbul was the city where the most candidates competed, the longest ballot paper was used in this province at 97 centimeters, and the shortest ballot paper was used in the Hilal town of Uludere, Şırnak, where a single candidate entered the election, at 4.5 centimeters.

The "youngest" candidates who won mayoralties in the districts of Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir also drew attention.

Eren Ali Bingöl, born in 1993, who crossed the finish line in Tuzla, Istanbul; Hüseyin Can Güner, born in 1993, who won in Çankaya, Ankara; Lal Denizli, born in 1991, who came in first in Çeşme, Izmir; and Erman Uzun, born in 1991, who won in Narlıdere, were recorded as the "youngest mayors" in the 3 metropolitan cities.

PARTY WITH THE LOWEST VOTE

The Power Union Party (Güç Birliği Partisi) only entered the elections in Mudurnu, Bolu. Mustafa Doğramacı, whom the party nominated as a mayoral candidate in the Mudurnu district of Bolu, went down in Republican history with 3 votes as the "candidate of the party that received the fewest votes in the election."
