The truth behind the 'bales of cash' footage in Üsküdar turns out to be different!

Following a dawn operation conducted against the Üsküdar Municipality in Istanbul, the footage that appeared in the press sparked controversy.

It was stated that the 4.5 million TL found in the home of Burçin Çevik, who was detained as part of the operation, had no connection to the municipal budget or the investigation file.

"CAFE TRANSFER FEE" STATEMENT

According to the report by Halktv, a statement made by Özgür Ahmet Cerrahoğlu, the lawyer for the fiancé Zeki Kulaç who was present in the house during the detention process, indicated that the money in question was used for the transfer of a cafe located in Beyoğlu one day prior.

The statement shared information that the amount was withdrawn via a bank and delivered by hand between the parties.

STATEMENT REGARDING THE SHARED DOCUMENTS

It was stated that lawyer Cerrahoğlu shared payment receipts and transfer contracts with the relevant authorities, and that the source of the money was recorded.

It was emphasized that the transaction in question took place within the scope of a commercial transfer process.

"PERCEPTION OPERATION" REACTION

Commenting on the release of the footage to the press, Mahmut Tanal stated that the situation was described as a "perception operation."

In his statement regarding the scope of the investigation, Tanal noted that the process relates to the period after the 2024 local elections, which were won by the CHP.
