'The truth is being kept off the screen' outburst: Reaction to AKP and MHP for rejecting the request to broadcast the İmamoğlu trial live

In the vote held in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, the proposal for the trial of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu to be broadcast live on official state channels was rejected. The decision had come to the agenda after İmamoğlu previously announced his request for an open hearing and live broadcast to the public.

AKP AND MHP VOTED AGAINST IN PARLIAMENT

Following Ekrem İmamoğlu's call for the trial to be broadcast live, the matter was discussed in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. In the vote held, the proposal was not accepted due to the votes of AKP and MHP deputies, and the request for a live broadcast was officially rejected.

“SETUP” EMPHASIZED POST FROM AHMET YAVUZ

Following the decision, Ahmet Yavuz made a notable statement on his social media account. Referring to the Balyoz case process in the past, Yavuz stated that a similar attitude was being displayed this time regarding the IMM file.

HE MADE A REFERENCE TO THE BALYOZ CASE

Ahmet Yavuz used the following expressions in his post:

“50,000 signatures were collected for the Balyoz case to be broadcast on TV; they had said no so that the setup would not be exposed; history repeats itself, they have displayed the same attitude for the IMM file as well. Everything hidden from the public eventually grabs the one who hides it by the collar one day.”

In his post, Yavuz argued that preventing the trial from being broadcast on screen stems from discomfort over the truth being reflected to the public. In his statement, he expressed that the transparent conduct of the case was being obstructed.
