The video in Erdoğan's 'protest' reaction was not filmed in Turkey!

Following the arrest and removal from office of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, the IMM Saraçhane building and its surroundings became the site of protests. President and AKP Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reacted to the CHP-led Saraçhane protests during his party's parliamentary group meeting.

In his speech, Erdoğan stated that the CHP is "terrorizing the streets" and said, "Every act of sabotage against Turkey's economy and the nation's welfare and peace will be held to account before the judiciary."

Criticizing the opposition's approach during his speech, he said, "Let's take a look at the screen to see what kind of opposition mentality we are facing," and played a 5-minute and 36-second video.

The same video was also shared on Erdoğan's official account on the social media platform X, with the note: "It truly disturbs us that Turkey's main opposition party has become a toy for marginal leftist organizations, foul-mouthed individuals who insult the nation, and thieves who strip municipalities bare."

THE VIDEO WAS NOT FILMED IN TURKEY

It has emerged that the section of the video between 04:15 and 04:21 contains footage from protests in Georgia. These images show clashes between police and protesters. It was learned that the footage in question dates back to 2024 and that the video was not filmed in Turkey.
