They couldn't handle İmamoğlu's boycott call! AKP files for access ban

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu was detained and subsequently arrested following investigations conducted against him, and was sent to Silivri Prison. Throughout his time in prison, IMM Mayor İmamoğlu's support for the demonstrations in Saraçhane and his boycott call were shared via his social media accounts, and his messages were shared with the public.

However, the support he gave to CHP leader Özgür Özel's boycott call yesterday disturbed the AKP wing. İmamoğlu supported the boycott call on social media with the words: "The time has come for the media and the business world to make a choice; they will either continue on the path under the guidance of 1 person and see the harsh effects of the BOYCOTT, or they will align themselves with the nation, as we do."

MOVE TO SHUT DOWN İMAMOĞLU'S SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS

Action has been taken regarding IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu's social media accounts. Mücahit Birinci, one of the prominent figures of the AKP, responded to the opposition's "boycott" calls by calling on companies and arguing that İmamoğlu's social media accounts should be shut down.

Subsequently, lawyers known for their proximity to the AKP announced that they had filed a request via UYAP for an access ban to be imposed on İmamoğlu's social media account.

Lawyer Burak Bekiroğlu, known for his proximity to the AKP, stated that they had sent an application via UYAP to the Duty Istanbul Criminal Court of Peace for the closure of İmamoğlu's social media accounts.

Bekiroğlu used the following expressions:

"ANNOUNCEMENT TO THE PUBLIC;

Due to the fact that it has been determined that suspect Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was arrested along with 50 people acting with him on the allegation and grounds of being the ringleader of a criminal organization for profit, following the corruption detected by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Organized Crime Investigation Bureau, attempted to disrupt our economy by calling for a boycott against domestic companies operating in our country by having his X account used by third parties in line with the instructions he gave from prison, in accordance with the goals, principles, and objectives of the alleged organization, and at the same time attempted to exert pressure on the judiciary by publicly spreading misleading information to the public in line with his own interests, an application has been sent via UYAP to the Duty Istanbul Criminal Court of Peace with the request that the person's X account be blocked from access from Turkey until the end of the trial."
