Those detained in 'Standing Man' protest released

On the 12th anniversary of the Gezi Park protests in Taksim Square, 19 out of 21 people—including two children—who participated in the silent protest known as the "Standing Man", which was held during that period, were held in custody and spent the night at the Vatan Police Headquarters on charges of "violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations".

Of the 19 people referred to the courthouse, 18 were sent to the criminal judgeship of peace with a request for judicial control measures, specifically a "travel ban" and "reporting to the police station". A request was made for the arrest of one person. The 19 people brought before the criminal court of peace were released under judicial control conditions.

While the two children were released yesterday after their statements were taken, 18 of the 19 people who were taken to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan following their processing at the Istanbul Police Department on Vatan Avenue were referred to the criminal judgeship of peace with a request for judicial control measures, specifically a "travel ban" and "reporting to the police station". A request was made for the arrest of one person. 

19 PEOPLE RELEASED UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROL

Following the referral by the prosecutor's office, the court decided to release all 19 people under judicial control conditions, including a travel ban, after they were brought before the criminal judgeship of peace.
