Those who do this in traffic are in trouble! Huge fines are coming
Parliament is preparing a new regulation to implement record fine increases for traffic rule violations. Fines for rule violations such as drifting or driving under the influence will reach up to 140 thousand TL.
Parliament has placed a new regulation on its agenda that introduces serious sanctions for traffic rule violations. With the legal amendment to be made, the fines imposed for reckless behavior in traffic will be increased significantly.
With the new regulation, record increases are expected in the fines applied for violations such as driving under the influence, running red lights, failing to yield to ambulances, and even blocking roads with wedding convoys. This change will grow even further with the revaluation rate at the end of the year.
140 THOUSAND TL FINE FOR DRIFTING
With the new regulation, the fines applied to drivers who "drift" will reach up to 140 thousand TL. In addition, drivers will be deprived of their licenses for 60 days. This will be one of the strictest regulations implemented to ensure that fines are a deterrent. Drivers' licenses will be revoked if they drift twice within 5 years.
Driving under the influence has been punished with high fines, especially in recent years. With the new regulation, the fine for driving under the influence will reach 25 thousand TL. Furthermore, the fine for a second offense of driving under the influence will rise to 50 thousand TL, and the driver's license will be suspended for 2 years. When driving under the influence for the third time, the fine will increase to 150 thousand TL, and the license will be suspended for 5 years.
HEAVY FINES FOR RED LIGHT VIOLATIONS
Drivers will be deprived of their licenses for 30 days if they violate a red light 3 times in a year, and for 60 days for 4 violations. For 5 violations, the penalty will extend up to 90 days. A driver who violates a red light six times will have their license permanently revoked.
FAILING TO YIELD TO AN AMBULANCE IS ANOTHER HIGH FINE
Drivers who do not yield to ambulances and fire trucks, which have the right of way, will pay a 46 thousand TL fine and will be banned from traffic for 30 days. Additionally, their licenses will be revoked. A driver who commits this violation twice within 5 years will have their license permanently revoked.
3 THOUSAND TL FINE FOR PLAYING LOUD MUSIC
Listening to loud music inside a vehicle within the city will also be punished. In this case, drivers will be fined 3 thousand TL. Furthermore, drivers using illegal sound systems in their vehicles will be fined 21 thousand TL and banned from traffic for 30 days. Non-compliant sound systems will be removed from the vehicles.
150 THOUSAND TL FINE FOR DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS
Drivers operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs will be fined 150 thousand TL and their licenses will be revoked indefinitely. Additionally, those who refuse an alcohol test will also pay a 150 thousand TL fine and their licenses will be taken away for 5 years.
Parliament plans to increase fines with the new regulation, which is expected to be enacted this year, in order to reduce traffic accidents and dangerous driving behaviors. Together with the revaluation rate at the end of the year, traffic fines will show an increase of at least 25%.
