Tom Barrack now compares Turkey and Israel! Notable comments on Erdoğan

In statements made to Fox News, U.S. Ambassador to Ankara Tom Barrack claimed that Western-style democracies in Middle Eastern countries have not produced the expected results and that strong leaders in the region provide more stable outcomes.

Barrack reiterated his view on "monarchy-like strong leadership," which he has frequently expressed before, this time comparing Turkey and Israel.

Stating that democracy does not function in the countries of the region, Ambassador Barrack said, "Israel, which can rightly be pointed to as a vibrant democracy in the region, is an important exception that thrives under extremely strong and courageous leadership. Turkey, which functions as a presidential system with regular multi-party elections, also shows that centralized leadership under Erdoğan provides stability, even if it is defined as a hybrid regime."

Barrack emphasized that he finds President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's leadership model appropriate for the region as well.

F-35 PROGRAM

Tom Barrack stated that the problems experienced with the U.S. regarding Turkey's participation in the F-35 fighter jet program should now be resolved. Arguing that the issue should not be prolonged any further, he stated, "Russia is benefiting from the sanctions imposed due to the S-400 purchase and the exclusion from the F-35 program." Barrack described the dispute process as "madness" and pointed out that rapid steps should be taken between the two countries.

On the other hand, the U.S. Embassy in Ankara did not include Atatürk or the Turkish flag in its post for the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day. This situation was criticized by some users on social media.
