Treasury refutes pro-government media: Response to 'I expect an interest rate cut' report
The Ministry of Treasury and Finance has announced that the report titled "Şimşek: I expect an interest rate cut this month," published in Türkiye Gazetesi, is baseless. The Ministry emphasized that Şimşek made no such assessment and warned the public not to "rely on behind-the-scenes reports."
The Ministry of Treasury and Finance has announced to the public that the statement attributed to Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, claiming "I expect an interest rate cut this month," published today in Türkiye Gazetesi, is not accurate.
In a statement made via its official social media account, it was emphasized that the report in question is misleading and does not reflect the truth.
IT WAS ON THE AGENDA AT THE KIZILCAHAMAM MEETING
The report had claimed that the statements were made during the AK Party's consultation and evaluation camp in Kızılcahamam. However, the Ministry stated that Mehmet Şimşek only drew attention to the general expectation of an interest rate cut forming in the markets during the meeting and conveyed this situation as an objective assessment. The Ministry declared that presenting this comment as if it were Minister Şimşek's own opinion is manipulative.
"HE HAS NO ASSESSMENT REGARDING INTEREST RATES"
In the Ministry's statement, it was said, "Our Minister has made no assessment regarding interest rates," completely refuting the content of the report. Furthermore, the following warning was issued to the public:
"It is important not to rely on reports made under the name of behind-the-scenes or insider information that have not been verified by us."
