Trustee term extended again in Mardin: Ahmet Türk's return postponed once more

The Ministry of Interior has made a new decision regarding the duration of the trustee administration at the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality. The previous decision, taken on May 2 and stipulating that Akkoyun would remain in office until July 4, has been extended by the Ministry for another two months. With this development, the path has once again been blocked for Ahmet Türk, who was expected to return to the mayoral seat.

ACQUITTAL FROM THE COURT

The court recently issued an acquittal for Ahmet Türk, who was being tried on charges of "making propaganda for a terrorist organization." Subsequently, Türk, whose medical treatment is ongoing, responded to public expectations regarding his return to office with the words, "We have no such expectation."

The extension of the trustee term has brought the statements made by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli at his party's group meeting last February back to the agenda. Referring to Ahmet Türk and Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer, Bahçeli had used the following words:

"Our decision is clear until Anatolia returns to peace, Öcalan to hope, the Ahmets to their offices, and Demirtaş to his home."

Following these developments, all eyes have turned to the new steps that will be taken regarding the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality in the next two months.
