Turkey issues sharp response to Israel's decision on 1915 events

Following the Israeli government's political decision to accept Armenian claims regarding the 1915 events, a sharp response came from Turkey. In a written statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out that Israel is systematically oppressing the Palestinian people before the eyes of the entire world, and stated that it is using this decision to distract from its own crimes.

CONDEMNATION FROM TURKEY

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement included the following: "The Israeli government, which is systematically oppressing the Palestinian people before the eyes of the entire world and is being tried at the International Court of Justice for the crime of committing genocide against Gazans, aims to cover up its own crimes with the political decision it has adopted regarding the 1915 events."

In the assessment made regarding the decision, it was emphasized that this step is a "malicious attempt" and ignores legal and historical facts. The same statement pointed out that the situation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has an arrest warrant issued against him by the International Criminal Court for crimes committed against Palestinians, and those who support him, has become even more apparent.

The Ministry stated that Israel's "expansionist and destabilizing policies" in the region must come to an end, and noted the following:

"Turkey will continue to work resolutely for the end of Israel's expansionist and destabilizing policies in the region and for the Netanyahu government to be held accountable before the law for the crimes it has committed against civilians, especially the Palestinian people."
