Two mayoral candidates will be unable to vote for themselves

Sabri Aktaş, who had applied as a candidate for the Bartın Municipal Council from the CHP, was nominated as the Ulus District Mayoral Candidate by the CHP Provincial Organization, which was struggling to find a candidate in the Ulus district.

During this process, Sabri Aktaş missed the legally permitted time frame for address transfer and was unable to move his address from the Bartın city center to the Ulus district center.

It was learned that Mustafa Bozkurt, who was nominated as the AKP mayoral candidate for the Kumluca town in the Ulus district, had previously moved his address to the town, but his address transfer request was not approved following an investigation conducted upon complaints made by some parties to the election board.

ADDRESS CHANGES OF 850 VOTERS WERE NOT ACCEPTED

It was learned that CHP candidate Sabri Aktaş will be able to cast his vote in the Bartın city center, while Mustafa Bozkurt will be able to cast his vote in the Şile district of Istanbul.

Due to the provision in Article 8 of the temporary clause of Law No. 2972 on Local Administrations and Neighborhood Headmen and Council of Elders Elections, which states that the requirement of having resided in that electoral district for at least six months is not sought, both candidates, who are expected to be on the "final candidate list" to be announced on January 3, will be unable to vote for themselves.

On the other hand, it was learned that a meticulous investigation was carried out on the voter lists suspended in some villages and neighborhoods of the Ulus district upon the objections of some parties, and determinations were made at the addresses stated to have been transferred through law enforcement agencies. It was learned that the address changes of approximately 850 voters, who were determined not to be at the addresses to which they were transferred, were not accepted.
