Ümit Özdağ to appear in court tomorrow: He made a call before the hearing
Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ made a call for support on social media ahead of his hearing to be held at Silivri Prison on June 11.
Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ made a statement through his lawyers on his social media account during his time in detention at Silivri Prison.
Özdağ announced that he will appear before a judge at the courtroom in the Silivri Penal Execution Institution on Wednesday, June 11, at 10:30 AM.
"142 DAYS LATER..."
Özdağ stated, "On Wednesday, June 11, at 10:30 AM, I will appear before a judge in the courtroom inside the Silivri Penal Execution Institution, 142 days after being arrested. Thus, I have become the citizen held in detention for the longest period under Article 216 of the Turkish Penal Code."
In his statement, noting that the real reason for his detention was his opposition to the negotiations held with terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan and the terrorist organization PKK, Özdağ said, "I invite everyone who is able to attend my hearing, with the hope of living in a Turkey where separate laws are not applied to the government and the opposition."
