Unlawful treatment of İmamoğlu in custody: He is even being denied his medication

Following the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu this morning, a new reaction has come from the CHP front. CHP Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın brought an unlawful practice against İmamoğlu to the agenda during a program he attended on Halk TV.

Günaydın stated that while the detention procedure requires a medical examination to be conducted at a hospital, it was planned for İmamoğlu to be examined at the police station.

Gökhan Günaydın said, "Mayor Ekrem was brought directly to the Vatan Police Headquarters. Normally, he should be taken from here to the hospital in Bayrampaşa for a medical check-up. However, they have summoned medical teams to the police station for security reasons. This situation is contrary to the Code of Criminal Procedure; a medical examination cannot be conducted where the judicial law enforcement is present," he said.

''HIS ACCESS TO MEDICATION IS BEING BLOCKED''

Günaydın also stated that İmamoğlu's medication was not being given to him and that no one was being allowed to see him. Describing the process as a "clear chain of lawlessness," Günaydın continued his words as follows:

"Ekrem İmamoğlu's medication is not being provided, and no one is allowed to see him. Twitter is being throttled, the police headquarters is under blockade, and the medical examination is being conducted at the police station instead of a hospital. This picture shows that a new link has been added to the lawlessness. Go out to the street and look at the citizens, see what they have to say about this."

STATEMENT FROM THE CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE

Following the allegations that İmamoğlu was not being given his medication, the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office issued a statement. In the statement, the Prosecutor's Office reported that the allegations were unfounded and that the health needs of everyone taken into custody were being met.

The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office emphasized that İmamoğlu had received his medication. It was noted that all suspects' examinations were conducted in a designated room without law enforcement present and outside the police building.
