Cem Küçük's commentary on Syria: 'A situation like the one in Northern Iraq could occur'
Pro-government columnist Cem Küçük spoke about the agreement reached between Ahmed al-Shara and Mazlum Abdi, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK/YPG. Küçük stated that a situation similar to that in Northern Iraq could occur in Syria.
Ahmed al-Shara, the head of the newly formed Transitional Government in Syria, met with 'Mazlum Abdi', the leader of the terrorist organization PKK/YPG (Syrian Democratic Forces).
The meeting addressed the disarmament of the terrorist organization occupying the north of the country and its integration into the new Syrian administration. Following the meeting, the Syrian Presidency announced that an agreement had been reached regarding the transfer of the terrorist organization PKK/YPG to state institutions.
The agreement, signed by al-Shara and the terrorist leader Şahin, guarantees that all Syrians, regardless of their religious or traditional origins, will have the right to be represented in state institutions based on merit and to participate in political processes, and that the Kurdish community will be recognized as an essential part of the Syrian state, with their constitutional citizenship rights and all other rights under state protection.
The agreement, which states that a ceasefire will be declared across all Syrian territories and that hostilities will end immediately, says, "Civil and military institutions in Northeast Syria (including border crossings, airports, oil wells, and gas fields) will be integrated into the Syrian state administration."
The agreement, which states that the safe return of all Syrian refugees to their villages and regions will be ensured and that they will be placed under state protection, adds, "The Syrian state will be supported in its fight against all elements that threaten the unity of the country."
The agreement, which includes the statement, "We reject calls for division, hate speech, and attempts to incite discord among all elements of Syrian society," also notes, "Executive committees will continue their work to implement this memorandum and aim to complete all steps before the end of this year."
SYRIA - NORTHERN IRAQ SIMILARITY
Cem Küçük, a figure close to the government, evaluated this agreement between al-Shara and Mazlum Abdi. Stating, "A situation like the one in Northern Iraq could occur in Syria," Küçük used the following expressions:
"At one time, Barzani and Talabani were viewed as terrorists in Turkey. Later, Barzani became the head of Northern Iraq. A similar situation to that in Northern Iraq could happen in Syria."
