President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at his party's TBMM Group Meeting.

Here are the highlights from Erdoğan's speech:

My dear nation, my esteemed fellow deputies, valued guests, I greet you with my most heartfelt feelings. Through you, I send my greetings and love to our citizens watching us on their screens. May our group meeting be auspicious for our country, our nation, and our democracy. I convey my love to my fellow travelers with whom I share the same passion and shoulder the same cause. I express my gratitude to my organization, which turned February 23 into a festival of democracy in Ankara, regardless of the harsh winter.

DEVELOPMENTS IN SYRIA

We are going through a difficult process where tensions and fratricidal conflicts are experienced both in our region and in different corners of the world. Our Sudanese brothers are struggling with instability. The ceasefire in Gaza continues, albeit with difficulty, despite all the arrogance of the Zionist regime. A new fire of sectarian-based sedition is being ignited in Syria.

"WE ARE RUNNING DAY AND NIGHT WITHOUT REGARD FOR DIFFICULTIES"

In the face of all the negativity, as a country, nation, and the AK Party, we keep our hope alive and maintain our determination in the strongest way possible. Without regard for difficulties, without getting stuck on obstacles, and without falling into the traps set, we are running day and night—to be a motor for good and a brake for evil, as our late teacher Erbakan said—drawing strength and courage from our brotherhood, our history, and our deep-rooted experience of thousands of years.

"WE WILL NOT BE CHASING SHOWS"

Our institutions represent our nation in the best way with their services in our geography of heart and culture, from the Balkans to the Caucasus. We are also reviving these blessed days by sharing our iftar tables with different segments of society, from our martyrs' families to our security forces, from tradesmen and craftsmen to women. We are trying to properly observe Ramadan, the sultan of 11 months. While doing all this, we will not be chasing shows like others. We will not spend 5 liras on advertising 3 liras worth of service. We will not turn the citizen's trouble or grievance into a tool for a show or political rent. We are not after making advertisements and shows, but after winning hearts. We are a cadre that acts with the aim of healing a wound or meeting a need. Of course, we will tell what we have done, but while doing so, we will not act recklessly like some, and we will not offend our people. We will not deviate from humility. This is the nobility that befits AK Party cadres. What befits this movement is an inclusive approach that embraces all 85 million.

"WE ARE BECOMING ONE OF THE CENTRAL HUBS OF DIPLOMACY"

Once again, I congratulate all my fellow travelers and comrades on the occasion of Ramadan-i Sharif, in the person of you, our esteemed deputies. I sincerely hope that you will fully breathe in the atmosphere of mercy, compassion, and abundance of Ramadan with your family, your loved ones, and our dear nation. In this season of mercy, where heartfelt prayers are not turned away, we say amen with all our hearts to this prayer of the late Mehmet Akif: "O Lord! For the sake of this magnificent Ramadan, remove whatever stands in the way of unity. O Lord! May the Ummah no longer be crushed and fall into despair due to this centuries-long division." I pray that Ramadan will be a means for prosperity, salvation, peace, and solidarity for our country, our nation, the Islamic world, and all humanity. I see it as useful to know this as well: As Turkey, we are delivering not only the banner of goodness but also the climate of peace, trust, and tranquility to all four corners of the world, especially to oppressed geographies. We have begun to reap the fruits of our efforts, which we carry out with the motto that a fairer world is possible. We are moving Turkey beyond being a source of stability in its region and making it one of the central hubs of peace diplomacy.

Those who have tried to divide us for years as Turkish-Kurdish, secular-anti-secular, progressive-reactionary, Alevi-Sunni are pursuing other scenarios in recent days. By putting forward the terrorist acts of the remnants of the old regime in Syria, an extremely insidious and extremely dirty ambush is being set against the brotherhood of our nation. They want to create a new problem area in Turkey with provocative statements, most of which are lies. A vile assassination is being carried out against our desire to live together. They want to create a new area of chaos in Turkey. The country's main opposition party is inflicting this evil on our nation. Instead of holding itself accountable, the CHP is becoming increasingly reckless.

RESPONSE TO "DEM PARTY" QUESTION: "IF AN APPOINTMENT IS REQUESTED, I WILL GRANT IT"

Following the Parliamentary Group Meeting, Erdoğan responded to the question, "Will you meet with the DEM Party delegation?" by saying, "If an appointment is requested, I will grant it."

"ÖZGÜR ÖZEL HAD TO EAT HIS WORDS"

Mr. Özel resorts to extremely ugly language outside as he gets cornered within his party. It is a disgrace for us to take as an interlocutor someone whose words uttered from the group podium are denied by his own mayor the next day. Mr. Özel thinks that gossiping at the parliamentary podium is politics. He had to eat his words. He pinned a badge on an incompetent person whose name has become synonymous with being a turncoat for changing parties. How can we take such an inconsistent person seriously? Why should we take as an interlocutor someone who gets reprimanded by their own mayors? Mr. Özel is squandering the credit extended to him. At this rate, it is near for him to hit rock bottom and be ousted from politics in an exemplary manner, just like his predecessor Bay Kemal. We are pleased that he talks a lot but says nothing. Our sadness is that the leader of the main opposition party has fallen into such a state."
