Forgot he was on live air: Mustafa Yeneroğlu reveals Kılıçdaroğlu’s 'secret' DEVA visit

DEVA Party Deputy Chairman Mustafa Yeneroğlu, who connected via mobile phone to journalist Bahar Feyzan’s YouTube channel, spoke about the secret visit CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu paid to the DEVA Party. Unaware that he was on live air during the connection, Yeneroğlu made critical remarks while saying "off the record."

Journalist Bahar Feyzan's live broadcast on her YouTube channel witnessed interesting moments. During the broadcast, Feyzan answered a call from Democracy and Progress Party (DEVA) Deputy Chairman and Istanbul MP Mustafa Yeneroğlu and informed Yeneroğlu that they were on air.

Following this, Yeneroğlu made statements regarding the secret DEVA Party visit made by CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu over the weekend, using the phrase "off the record" during his speech.

Bahar Feyzan interrupted Yeneroğlu's remarks, reminding him that "they were on air." Unable to hide his surprise, Mustafa Yeneroğlu stated, "I didn't say anything unknown anyway, may it be for the best."

The statement Yeneroğlu made without realizing he was on air is as follows:

"Kemal Bey and the CHP need to explain this. It is a strange situation for the CHP. Gürsel Tekin had made statements about an alliance at the local level before the visit. This is something very problematic ethically. It is a very surprising situation. Kemal Bey has caused a serious crisis of confidence.

They need to explain this to the CHP organizations as well. A chairman of any political party is trying to persuade the district heads of another party to transfer. I don't know if there is another example of this in Turkish political history."

WHAT HAPPENED?

It had emerged that CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu had secretly met with some DEVA Party district heads in Istanbul over the weekend.

It was alleged that in exchange for some DEVA Party district heads met by Kılıçdaroğlu joining the CHP, DEVA Party Esenyurt District Head Halis Kahriman would be given a mayoral candidacy. Following the meeting in question, the DEVA Party members had decided to resign en masse.

"IT DIDN'T SUIT YOU, KEMAL BEY"

The meeting in question also drew a reaction from the DEVA Party Headquarters, and the party's Deputy Chairman İdris Şahin reacted to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu with the words, "A pity. It didn't suit you, Kemal Bey."

STATEMENT FROM CHP

In the statement made by the CHP regarding the visit, Ankara MP Murat Emir, one of the change advocates, used the following expressions:

"We have seen dozens of examples that we cannot get votes from the right by offering important seats in our party to the discarded actors of the right who have exhausted their political lives. We have no reason to think that there is a political/ideological convergence behind the recruitment of DEVA Party district heads to our party before the local elections. We are concerned that a new '39 MP case' is being prepared. Our party must first return to its own principles and values. Change is essential."
