The investigation into Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) subsidiary Medya A.Ş. continues with new developments. Speaking on TGRT Haber regarding the matter, journalist Nuray Başaran drew attention to the details of the investigation. Başaran said, "The money transferred from Medya A.Ş. has been reported along with the recipients. Journalists have been identified one by one. It is alleged that payments were made to these journalists."
SECRET INVESTIGATION AND IBB SUBSIDIARY
The secret investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Organized Crime Bureau was initiated following a tip-off regarding the destruction of evidence at Medya A.Ş. The investigation deepened further following a raid conducted on March 3rd under the prosecutor's instructions. Murat Ongun serves as the Chairman of the Board and Pınar Türker as the General Manager of Istanbul Medya A.Ş., an IBB subsidiary.
Başaran also touched upon the allegations of payments made to journalists from Medya A.Ş. Stating, "The money transferred from Medya A.Ş. has been reported along with the recipients. Journalists have been identified one by one," Başaran emphasized that this situation is a critical development for the investigation. Furthermore, it is alleged that details regarding who received the payments and which journalists benefited from them have been shared with the prosecutor's office.
DELEGATE TESTIMONIES EMERGE
Stating that findings have been made regarding the transfer of funds from Medya A.Ş. companies to the party convention, Başaran underscored that these connections constitute significant evidence within the scope of the investigation, noting, "Delegates who received money have spoken with the prosecutor." While it is stated that the cases opened regarding the relationships between Ekrem İmamoğlu, the IBB, and the CHP are interconnected, the investigation is expected to proceed within a much broader framework.
Türkiye newspaper columnist Cem Küçük also addressed the investigation into İmamoğlu's diploma. Küçük stated, "A decision on İmamoğlu's diploma will be reached before the holiday. There is an allegation that 25 journalists were paid regular salaries from Medya A.Ş." Küçük further claimed that Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan was also involved in the financing operations and could be summoned to testify.
