Veteran journalist and former leader of the Republican People's Party (CHP), Altan Öymen, has passed away at the age of 93. A memorial ceremony was held at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) for Öymen, who died due to multiple organ failure.
The ceremony was attended by Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler, MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan, and former CHP leaders Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and Hikmet Çetin. Öymen's daughter, Aslı Öymen, accepted condolences.
During the ceremony, it was noted that CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, and former CHP leaders Hikmet Çetin and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu walked arm-in-arm.

Following the ceremony at the TBMM, another memorial service will be held for Öymen at the CHP Headquarters. The funeral prayer will be held tomorrow after the afternoon prayer (ikindi) at Teşvikiye Mosque, and he will subsequently be laid to rest at Zincirlikuyu Cemetery.
