Voter lists to be posted today: Deadline for objections announced

As Turkey enters the election atmosphere, voter lists will be posted in provinces and districts. Millions of voters will cast their ballots to elect mayors and neighborhood heads (muhtars).

The Supreme Election Council (YSK) had previously determined the implementation principles for updating voter lists for the local administration elections on March 31.

DEADLINE FOR OBJECTIONS ANNOUNCED

Accordingly, voter lists will be posted at neighborhood head offices (muhtarliks) today (January 4) at 8:00 AM. The period for voters to query their information and file objections will also begin. Updates to the voter lists can be made until January 17.

Students who wish to vote in the locations where they are studying, as well as those who find errors or omissions in their identity or address information in the neighborhood registry, will be able to update their details.

THOSE NOT REGISTERED CAN APPLY TO POPULATION DIRECTORATES

Those who are eligible to vote but whose names do not appear on the lists will also be able to apply.

These individuals will be required to present a utility bill or a rental agreement.

Voters who wish to change their registered address to another district will be able to apply during the posting period by presenting documents such as electricity, water, telephone, or natural gas bills.
