Warning to former party from Kocabıyık, who was expelled from AKP, regarding CHP
A strong criticism directed at the party base regarding recent developments concerning the CHP has come from within the AKP.
Former MP Hüseyin Kocabıyık, who was expelled from the AKP after criticizing the detention and arrest of Ekrem İmamoğlu, addressed those in the AKP who support the court ruling of "absolute nullity" in the CHP's party congress case.
Kocabıyık opposed the thoughts of some individuals within the AKP who say, "Wow, this leader is a great man, I swear; look at how he shattered the CHP with a single signal."
Kocabıyık targeted certain circles within the AKP with the words, "You are the ones whose souls have been stolen, whose reason for existence has vanished, and who are finished. Vasıf Efendi described you in the 18th century: 'Meyyid-i müteharrike'." The term "Meyyid-i müteharrike" translates into English as "living dead" or "walking corpse."
Kocabıyık stated that the absolute nullity ruling bears similarities to negative past practices in Turkish politics.
Referring to the "Investigation Committee" (Tahkikat Encümeni) established by the Democrat Party in 1960 to silence the opposition, Kocabıyık made the following assessment:
"A reminder to the AKP: In the spring of 1960, the Democrat Party established an Investigation Committee to suppress the opposition. This erroneous decision brought many pains with it. It opened the door to developments that damaged our democracy. Now, with this absolute nullity ruling, they are trying to remove the opposition from being a rival in the same way. You will bring trouble upon yourselves, and that does not concern me at all; however, you will bring trouble upon the nation, and that should concern everyone."
