What happened at Ali Yerlikaya's dinner at the TBMM? Here is the behind-the-scenes of the dismissal...

With the Presidential decree published last night, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya and Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç were dismissed from their duties. Erzurum Governor Mustafa Çiftçi was appointed as the new Minister of Interior, replacing Yerlikaya, while Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek was appointed as the new Minister of Justice, replacing Tunç. Both former ministers thanked AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in their statements and wished the new ministers success.

In his social media post, Ali Yerlikaya stated, "I am handing over my duty as Minister of Interior, which I began on June 4, 2023, with the approval and discretion of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, to my dear brother Mustafa Çiftçi. I congratulate him and wish him success in his new role. May God make it auspicious. I express my gratitude to our President for the great support he provided during my ministry. I sincerely thank every member of our Interior Ministry family who worked wholeheartedly for the peace and security of our country. May you be entrusted to God."

WHAT HAPPENED IN THE EVENING CAFETERIA DREW ATTENTION

İYİ Party Kocaeli Deputy Lütfü Türkkan included a striking detail about Yerlikaya in a post on his social media account. Türkkan recounted an event he observed in the Parliament cafeteria shortly before the decision was published in the Official Gazette with the following words:

"With the decision published in the Official Gazette this evening, the Ministers of Interior and Justice have changed. On this occasion, I would like to share a matter I witnessed this evening. For the first time since the day he became minister, former Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya came to the lower dining hall where deputies eat around 19:00 this evening. The staff were arranging a table for a very large group to sit. They stood for a long time with those accompanying him. He was still a Minister. I did not see a single deputy next to the Minister among those who came to the dining hall. Another remarkable point; none of the Ak Party deputies who were in the restaurant at that moment and eating their meals got up to go to the Minister. Either the deputies knew about this change in advance, or he had already lost his reputation among Ak Party deputies as a Minister."

This post has become a new subject of evaluation regarding Yerlikaya's relations in Parliament during the dismissal process. Following the ministers who bid farewell to their duties, the new names have begun their work in the ministerial seats.
