What is on the agenda of the Turkish Grand National Assembly for the new week?

The General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), which will begin its weekly work on Tuesday, January 30, will address legislative proposals concerning several international agreements, including the "Draft Law on the Approval of the Agreement Between the Republic of Türkiye and the United Nations on the Establishment of the United Nations Development Coordination Office Regional Office in Istanbul."

Furthermore, the General Assembly will elect a member to the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK). The General Assembly will elect one person to HSK membership from among the candidates determined by the Joint Commission composed of members of the Constitutional and Justice Commissions: Prof. Dr. Çetin Arslan, Prof. Dr. Bayram Keskin, and Prof. Dr. Ender Ethem Atay.

In the first round of voting, a two-thirds majority of the total number of members will be required; if the election cannot be concluded in this round, a three-fifths majority of the total number of members will be sought in the second round. If a member cannot be elected in the second round, the election will be completed by drawing lots between the two candidates who received the most votes.

COMMITTEE AGENDAS

The TBMM Foreign Affairs Committee and the Sub-Commission on the Examination of Convict and Detainee Rights of the Human Rights Investigation Commission will meet this week. The Foreign Affairs Committee will address 20 legislative proposals regarding international agreements.

The Sub-Commission on the Examination of Convict and Detainee Rights of the Human Rights Investigation Commission will also discuss reports on the Sincan, Diyarbakır, Mardin E-Type, and Midyat M-Type prisons.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the political parties with groups in the Parliament will hold their group meetings.
