What is the 'null and void' administration's convention plan? All eyes in the CHP are on the move Özgür Özel will make tomorrow

The recent 'absolute nullity' (mutlak butlan) decision within the Republican People's Party (CHP) has fueled debates over a party convention. Elected Chairman Özgür Özel and his team, stating that they have reached the sufficient number of signatures for an extraordinary convention, plan to deliver the signatures collected from approximately one thousand delegates to the party headquarters tomorrow.

Circles close to Kılıçdaroğlu, meanwhile, argue that the convention cannot be held during this period, citing the fact that the court decision has not yet been finalized. According to them, initiating a new convention process before the legal procedures regarding a change in chairmanship are completed is contrary to the party bylaws.

THE 'NULL AND VOID' ADMINISTRATION PLANS TO HOLD THE CONVENTION WITHIN 6-7 MONTHS

On the other hand, the regular convention calendar initiated within the party continues. According to the plan determined by the party administration, the goal is to complete the process with provincial and district congresses within the next six to seven months. The view that the finalization of the court decision is a prerequisite for the convention also remains on the party's agenda.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF THE SIGNATURES ARE NOT ACCEPTED?

It has been noted that the signature collection process, which began following Özgür Özel's call, was completed in a short time and that approximately one thousand delegates signed for an extraordinary convention. If the signatures are not accepted by the headquarters, a new legal battle within the party could be on the horizon.

KILIÇDAROĞLU HAS DETERMINED THE GROUP DEPUTY CHAIRMEN

Developments within the CHP have not been limited to convention debates. Following the latest events, the terms of CHP Group Deputy Chairmen Ali Mahir Başarır and Gökhan Günaydın have been terminated. İzmir Deputy Sevda Erdan Kılıç and Kars Deputy İnan Akgün Alp are expected to be appointed to these positions.
