IYI Party officials state that the decision for an elective congress following the March 31 local elections was taken as a "show." While it is claimed that Chairwoman Meral Akşener will not step down from the party leadership, she is expected to adopt a "If you have the courage, run against me" stance. 

According to a report by Merve Kılıç from Cumhuriyet, behind-the-scenes talk points to Deputy Chairman in Charge of Local Governments Burak Akburak is being shown. 

Party aides underscored that the bill for the failure is being laid at the feet of Akşener, Akburak, and Kürşad Zorlu. Sources suggesting that as the congress approaches, Akşener will adopt a "come forward if you have the courage" stance, state that those intending to run as candidates will be "intimidated."

ELECTION RESIGNATIONS IN THE İYİ PARTY

Following the local elections, an earthquake of resignations occurred in the İYİ Party. 

Following the resignation call by İYİ Party Denizli Deputy and TBMM Clerk Member Yasin Öztürk, İYİ Party Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayoral Candidate Buğra Kavuncu and İYİ Party Local Administrations President Burak Akburak resigned from their party posts. 

Günay Kodaz, a member of the Founders' Board whose expulsion was requested by Akşener, also announced on her social media account that she would be a candidate at the congress.
