What will be discussed in the Turkish Grand National Assembly this week? What is on the agenda of the commissions?

The weekly agenda of the Turkish Grand National Assembly General Assembly has been determined.

Accordingly, the General Assembly, which will convene on Wednesday, February 7, will begin deliberations on the Draft Law on Amendments to the Mining Law and Certain Other Laws, which includes regulations in the field of energy.

PARLIAMENT'S AGENDA IS ENERGY

According to the draft, natural gas produced domestically or imported from different sources will be able to be liquefied in Turkey and marketed to world markets as LNG.

Projects prepared to increase energy efficiency will be supported by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources at a rate of up to 30 percent of their costs, provided that the support does not exceed 15 million Turkish Liras.

Renewable energy production plants will be able to be established without the need for zoning plans in areas declared as renewable energy resource areas by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, including seas, dam lakes, artificial lakes, and natural lakes, excluding reservoirs and wetlands used for drinking and utility water, as well as coastal and shoreline strips covered under the Coastal Law.

In places where a state of emergency has been declared or which are accepted as disaster areas affecting general life, temporary electricity energy demands will be met within the framework of determined procedures and principles to ensure that electricity services are provided without interruption.

WHAT WILL BE DISCUSSED IN THE COMMISSION?

The National Defense Committee will convene on Wednesday, February 7, to elect a spokesperson.

Additionally, the Subcommittee on Islamophobia and Racism of the Human Rights Investigation Committee will receive a presentation from the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities regarding "Discrimination, Hate Speech, and Islamophobic and Racist Practices Faced by Turkish Citizens, Kin, and Related Communities Living Abroad."

The Joint Committee, composed of members of the Petition Committee and the Human Rights Investigation Committee, will receive the "2023 Annual Report" of the Ombudsman Institution.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the political parties with groups in Parliament will hold their group meetings.
