In 2024, lawmakers' healthcare expenses covered by the Treasury amounted to 130 million 883 thousand TL. The annual healthcare expenditure for a single lawmaker reached approximately 220 thousand TL, a figure equivalent to the total annual salary of 6 thousand minimum wage earners.
The scale of healthcare expenses for lawmakers, who frequently make headlines due to their high salaries and privileged benefits, has drawn attention. Throughout 2024, the Treasury spent 123 million 682 thousand TL on lawmakers' treatment and medical supply costs. Additionally, medication expenses were recorded at 7 million 151 thousand TL.
Totaling 130 million 883 thousand TL, these healthcare expenditures increased by 112 percent compared to the previous year. In this context, the annual healthcare cost for a single lawmaker was calculated at approximately 220 thousand TL.

EQUIVALENT TO THE SALARY OF 6 THOUSAND MINIMUM WAGE EARNERS
The budget allocated for lawmakers' healthcare expenses is equivalent to the total annual salary of approximately 6 thousand minimum wage earners. As of 2025, while a lawmaker's salary has reached 200 thousand TL, this figure corresponds to 11.6 times the net minimum wage. Retired lawmakers, in addition to this, receive a pension of 123 thousand 759 TL.
