Who is Turgut Altınok, the AKP's candidate for Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality? How old is he? What positions has he held?
Turgut Altınok is a politician and lawyer born in 1964 in the Balâ district of Ankara. He completed his primary education at Keçiören Fevzi Atlıoğlu Primary School and his secondary education at Keçiören Kalaba High School. He pursued his higher education in the field of International Law.
Altınok, who began his political career in the Idealist Hearths (Ülkü Ocakları), assumed the role of Keçiören District Chairman for the Nationalist Work Party (MÇP) at the age of 25, and subsequently served as the Ankara Provincial Chairman and a member of the Central Executive Board. At the age of 28, he became the Deputy Secretary General of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP).
In the local elections held on March 27, 1994, at the age of 30, he was elected Mayor of Keçiören representing the MHP. He continued his mayoral duties after winning again as the Keçiören candidate for the Virtue Party (Fazilet Partisi) in the local elections on April 18, 1999. In the local elections on March 28, 2004, he assumed the office of Mayor of Keçiören for a third time, representing the AKP.
In the 2014 local elections, he was the Keçiören mayoral candidate for the Great Unity Party (BBP). Turgut Altınok is married and a father of four. He is currently among the AKP's candidates for Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality.
