IYI Party Chairman Meral Akşener has announced her party's mayoral candidates in 71 locations to date.

In the CHP, which has left its party congress process behind and begun local election preparations, Chairman Özgür Özel called for an alliance with political parties during his party's latest group meeting.

The fact that Özel will visit IYI Party leader Meral Akşener following his call for an alliance has stirred up political circles.

According to a report by Cumhuriyet; IYI Party officials stated that the meeting between Akşener and Özel would be a “courtesy visit” and not an “alliance or cooperation” meeting. Some officials noted that discussions regarding cooperation could also take place in the coming days.

It has been learned that some key figures in the party are of the opinion that cooperation with the CHP could be pursued, specifically regarding Ankara and Istanbul. Stating that Ankara and Istanbul should not be lost to the AKP, the officials expressed that “Istanbul is in a critical situation and that the CHP would face the risk of losing if it does not have the support of the IYI Party here.”
