Will Mansur Yavaş be a candidate?

As discussions regarding a potential presidential candidate for a possible early election continue within the CHP, which rose to become the leading party following the local elections, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş, who is cited as one of the strongest candidates, made statements at the opening ceremony of the 100th Year Youth Library.

WILL HE BE A CANDIDATE?

Mansur Yavaş stated that there is no candidacy agenda at the moment and that efforts are being made to distract from the country's real agenda. Seeking to address the curiosity surrounding the candidacy debates, Yavaş said, "If our party nominates us, we will be a candidate."

Yavaş used the following expressions in his statement:

"Even though nothing has come out of the mouths of Mr. İmamoğlu (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu) or myself, they are creating unnecessary debates under the guise of 'backstage information' that both criticize the government and serve it, and they are making people forget the real agenda. The country's only agenda should be the situation of retirees, the approaching winter conditions, and our low-income citizens who are living in hunger.

If our party nominates us, we will be a candidate. We are speaking Turkish and we are speaking quite clearly. Other than that, the words spoken have no value. The opposition must work with all its might to solve these problems. Anything spoken outside of this is empty talk."

"WE ABSOLUTELY BELIEVE AN ACQUITTAL WILL BE ISSUED"

While the debates surrounding the 'Ahmak' (Fool) case, which also carries the risk of a political ban for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, continue, ABB Mayor Mansur Yavaş made the following comments on the subject:

"I demand that this decision be issued as an acquittal as soon as possible and that the country returns to its own agenda. As all mayors, we stand with İmamoğlu. If a sentence is issued against İmamoğlu, we will show how we will protest it on that day. Because we do not want to believe that the judiciary will make such a decision. We absolutely believe that an acquittal will be issued."
