YRP candidate makes claim about Ekrem İmamoğlu! 'To switch to the AK Party...'

Vehbi Orakçı, the New Welfare Party (YRP) mayoral candidate for Beylikdüzü, who closed the door on an alliance with the AKP in the local elections, made a striking claim during a program he attended.

Speaking to Haberler.com, Orakçı alleged that Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu had asked for his help to switch to the AKP.

"THE İMAMOĞLU FAMILY CAME TO MEET"

In his speech, Orakçı stated that during his time as AKP Organization President, before Ekrem İmamoğlu joined the CHP, İmamoğlu asked him at a dinner, "I want to switch to the AK Party, will you help me?" Orakçı stated that he told him he would help and that İmamoğlu asked for time to think about it.

Orakçı said that a year later, for the 2004 local elections, the İmamoğlu family came to him for an application meeting, but that Ekrem İmamoğlu did not take part in this meeting. He stated that Ekrem İmamoğlu's uncle made the application, and that İmamoğlu later stepped back for his uncle.

Born in 1970 in the Horasan district of Erzurum, Vehbi Orakçı graduated from the Department of Geomatics Engineering at Yıldız Technical University's Faculty of Civil Engineering in 1995. Within the Marmara Engineering and Construction Industry Company, which he founded as a university student in 1993, he carried out significant activities in the fields of construction, projects, engineering, and food trade. Having served in the AK Party for a period, Orakçı became the New Welfare Party's mayoral candidate for Beylikdüzü.
