YRP Chairman Erbakan meets with Future Party Chairman Davutoğlu

Future Party Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu and his accompanying delegation visited New Welfare Party (YRP) Chairman Fatih Erbakan.

The meeting, which took place at the New Welfare Party Headquarters, lasted approximately 1.5 hours.

Following the meeting, both leaders made statements to the press.

"WE EVALUATED THE ELECTIONS AND THEIR RESULTS"

Starting his speech by thanking Davutoğlu, Erbakan said, “During this conversation, as two political parties, we naturally had the opportunity to evaluate the March 31 Local Elections, the previous May 14-28 General Elections, and their results.

We discussed why the government suffered such a defeat on March 31, what the opposition's success was based on, and what developments might occur from here on out.

Along with this, an assessment was made regarding the new Constitution and the economic crisis and poverty, which we can describe as one of Turkey's most significant problems.

Furthermore, we also discussed the steps that Turkey and the Islamic world can take regarding the massacres and genocide being committed in Gaza and Rafah, which is a common wound for us all,” he said.

"WE HAVE MET FREQUENTLY"

Davutoğlu, in his statement, said, “There has always been a ground for consultation with the New Welfare Party since the moment we were founded. We have met frequently. In the meeting we held today, we had the opportunity to address many issues.

We discussed the picture that emerged from the March 31 Elections in detail.

We addressed the developments that have emerged in the government and opposition camps following the defeat experienced by the ruling party in this political landscape, in terms of Turkey's general political trajectory. The upcoming period is a time when the political equation in Turkey is being re-established,” he stated.
