YRP leader Fatih Erbakan announces alliance decision!

Yeniden Refah Party Chairman Fatih Erbakan made statements.

Erbakan announced that they will not form an alliance with the AKP in the March 31, 2024 local elections. Stating that they will field their own candidates in Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir, Erbakan reported that they will introduce their candidates on February 10.

"THE AKP DID NOT COMPLY WITH THE AGREEMENT"

Erbakan said the following in his statement:

"In the May 14 Presidential Election, we took part in the People's Alliance by presenting our memorandum of understanding without compromising our fundamental principles. Although we had announced our presidential candidacy at that time, we withdrew our candidacy in favor of the People's Alliance's presidential candidate, Erdoğan. We presented our memorandum of understanding, which would be entirely for the benefit of our nation. We had no other demands or expectations beyond this. Thanks to this memorandum of understanding, we demonstrated that we stand behind our principles. However, we express with sadness that 8-9 months later, there has been no positive development regarding the memorandum of understanding for the May 14 Election. On the contrary, actions have been taken that are contrary to the memorandum of understanding."

LISTED HIS REASONS

Explaining the reason for not forming an alliance with the AKP in his speech, Erbakan said, "The 2024 budget and the situation of retirees and low-income earners are the most important indicators of this. The rain of price hikes is another indicator of this. I also see with sadness that the government has not taken steps regarding Gaza. Steps such as expelling the Israeli Ambassador, recalling our ambassador in Tel Aviv, and stopping commercial relations have not been taken."

METROPOLITAN CANDIDATES TO BE ANNOUNCED ON FEBRUARY 10

Stating that they will field their own candidates in the three major cities, Erbakan said, "We have decided not to take part in an alliance in the March 31 local elections and to field our own candidates in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir. We will announce them at our candidate introduction meeting on February 10."
