Date announced for birth grants

Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş stated that a total of 1 billion 750 million liras has been paid to 220 thousand 268 mothers to date under the scope of birth grants. She announced that this month's payments will be transferred to mothers' accounts on July 31.

In a statement to journalists following the Cabinet Meeting held at the Presidential Complex, Göktaş touched upon the importance of the 2025 Year of the Family and the 10-Year Family and Population initiatives announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Emphasizing that the issue of population is being handled as a matter of national security, Göktaş stated that new steps will be taken to protect Turkey's dynamic population structure.

POPULATION POLICIES AND THE YEAR OF THE FAMILY

Drawing attention to the strategic importance of declaring the next 10 years as the "10-Year Family and Population" period, Göktaş stated that family and population policies will be placed at the center of all policy areas. She said that policies aimed at strengthening the institution of the family in education, business life, and social life will be implemented.

Pointing out the risks that may be encountered with the decline in fertility rates, Göktaş emphasized that the state is working with all its resources on this issue. She noted that the Population Policies Board has been established and that significant measures have been taken to protect the young population.

INTENSE INTEREST IN THE FAMILY AND YOUTH FUND

Stating that the Family and Youth Fund was put into effect to support young people in establishing homes during the Year of the Family, Göktaş announced that 150 thousand liras of interest-free credit support with a 48-month maturity and a 2-year grace period is being provided to young people in 81 provinces. She also stated that pre-marital and post-marital education and counseling services are provided to couples. She said that 142 thousand 539 couples have applied to this fund to date and 96 thousand 272 couples have benefited from the services.

BIRTH GRANTS UPDATED

Sharing information regarding the Birth Support System, Göktaş stated that a new support model has been adopted for children born as of January 1, 2025. She announced that a one-time support of 5 thousand liras is provided for the first child, 1500 liras per month for the second child, and 5 thousand liras per month for the third and subsequent children. In this context, she announced that birth grants will be deposited into mothers' accounts on July 31. She emphasized that as a Ministry, they will continue to work with sustainable support mechanisms that encourage the family.
